Finally a decent tattoo to show you!
This is a Dansette record player, with the words ‘singing to be free’ coming out of it. It’s not deep and meaningful (I don’t believe all tattoos should be, by any means), but it is definitely one of my favourites and the prettiest by a long mile.
It was done by Nico when he was at Shangri-La and I think he is a genius. 28/365

It doesn’t matter what angle I shoot this from: this tattoo is never, ever going to look pretty.

MH are the initials of one of my best friends. We went through a rough patch where I didn’t speak to her for a year or two, and were just over it when my friend told me he’d bought a tattoo gun and wanted someone to practice on. At first he wrote ‘KH’ which should have alerted me to how shit this was going to be, but I let him continue anyway. It is definitely my crappiest tattoo but also one of my faves because I love my best friend and she is awesome.

@stickaround suggested I take some photos of my tattoos, as I have a few, so I thought I’d start from the bottom and work my way methodically up. They’re not all great, I’ll be honest, but they’re there, and they may be of some slight interest, so here we go.

This one, oy vey, what a story. Let’s do the short version: I was 19, I went to a party Peter Doherty threw, it was late, we were drunk, we started talking about tattoos, cut to the next morning, I’m in a tattooist on Walker’s Court, eating strawberries and pogo-ing to Elvis, with a new tattoo on my foot.

Here it is when fresh, with my fellow ‘branded and bonded’.

Since getting this tattoo so many fucking strange things have happened, from being followed into MacDonald’s by some teenagers who thought I knew where Peter lived, to finding a stick on version of it in a book at Urban Outfitters.

I don’t regret it, even though it’s not a particularly beautiful or well done tattoo, it’s a part of me now, and strangely a tiny part of music history.

Thought it’d be funny to do a duckface pout since I was taking a photo of myself with a camera phone, I just look insane.

This is my idea of tidying. Pushing two overstuffed suitcases under my bed with my foot.

I’d like to think if I was really floating through space I’d be this nonchalant.
