I AM A PERSON WHO HAS OFFENDED SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET USING A CONTENTIOUS TERM
Shit! What do I do?
Firstly: ask, politely, why it was offensive
Secondly: listen to the answer, take time to think about it, think about whether my need to use a term that upsets a large swathe of people (but possibly not everyone) is greater than someone else’s need to feel happy and safe
Thirdly: apologise for upsetting them
Lastly: strive to a avoid using this term again
DO NOT:
- call on your friends to back you up against all criticism
- call the offended parties ‘hysterical’ or ‘trolls’
- engage in a rolling argument where you point out you have black/gay/trans/adult baby friends who aren’t offended and then throw a lot of shade
Now then: was that so hard?

I finally decided to flag my nails in colours that were actually relevant (rather than paint them *then* guess) so I went for silver - femmes for femmes, and light blue - cos who doesn’t want to get eaten out??
